Gilead Sciences, Inc. and GlobeImmune, Inc, announced that the companies have entered into an exclusive worldwide license and collaboration agreement for the development and commercialization of therapeutic vaccine products for use in conjunction with Viread© (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) and other oral therapies for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.
Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville and Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette are both on a Top 100 Hospitals for Patient Experience list from WomenCertified, the national consumer group. The list is based on customer assessment scores and a gender-focused customer satisfaction study done by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, said Kate Payne, a spokeswoman for the national group.
Products made by medical-device company Medivance Inc. are used at all Top 10 national hospitals ranked in a recent issue of U.S. News & World Report magazine. The magazine's list recognized hospitals with "unusually high expertise across multiple specialties." Just 17 hospitals qualified for the magazine's "honor roll" list of the nearly 5,000 that were evaluated.
Backpack maker Lowe Alpine is moving back to the region where it was founded, with all distribution and marketing to be housed at Rab USA LLC's location in Louisville by November 1. Parent company Equip Outdoor Technologies bought the Lowe Alpine brand and all of its assets for an undisclosed amount in mid-July. Equip also owns Rab USA outdoor apparel and sleeping bag company in Louisville. The Lowe Alpine brand was founded in Boulder in 1967.
