Ahh, Colorado. Mild winters (yes, really), warm summer nights, and the Rocky Mountains providing shade for our 300 days of sunshine a year make Louisville a poster child for the active lifestyle.
Start in town at the Louisville Recreation and Senior Center where residents can swim laps, play basketball, racquet ball, and handball, or train on the state-of-the-art exercise and weight equipment. Outside the Rec Center is the new skate board and stunt-bike park where you can often find Louisville resident and world-class skateboarder Jason Mitchell training.
You can get anywhere, including away from it all, on the city's truly great network of biking and hiking trails. While you are out, keep an eye out for coyote, fox, deer, prairie dogs, and birds of prey in our 2,000 acres of parks and open space.
The beautiful Rocky Mountains and world-class rock-climbing, hiking, and mountain biking are 25 minutes (really) from Downtown Louisville.
Skiing is a 45 minute drive up Boulder Canyon to Eldora and a number of world-class resorts including Winter Park, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Keystone are around an hour and a half in a car. No matter what you love to do, bike, hike, rock climb, golf, hunt, raft, boat, or camp, Louisville is an ideal location for a healthy, active lifestyle.
